MP1 Peer Blogs Reflection

Carey Zhu

Carey is working on creating a LoFi video. I'm actually pretty excited about this because I used to listen to a lot of LoFi and was super into LoFi culture. I know Carey, he's a really good fried, incredibly smart and incredibly talented so I'm keen to see what his final product is.
I also sit next to him and really enjoy looking over sometimes and just watching him work when I need a break from the research I'm doing. He's incredibly talented and I really can't wait to see the final product. Really impressed by him (he also has a YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/TasteTheSno )

Allan Yang

Allan's really impresses me just by the simple amount of research and history that's going into his work. It actually inspired me for my next film I want to work on (involving Irish history). He was actually one of the only presentations I was focused and attentive for the entire time cause everything he was talking about was just so interesting.
It looks pretty good so far and it's really clear he's putting a lot of effort into it so I'm really excited to see what he comes up with. I'm really impressed.

Hanna Dellarciprete

I'll be honest, no offense to Hanna since she clearly is working hard to create something great and is really has put in plenty of effort, most of my reason for picking her was actually her planning. I actually want to snag a few of her ideas for my own planning process. Especially the following

Toby McClure

Honestly I just loved Toby's cause it was really wacky and honestly I think it will be a hilariously fun short to watch once he's finished working on it. He goofs off a lot in class but I think he really is trying hard to make sure this comes out looking good. I'm not necessarily impressed yet but I think I will be when the final product comes out.

Tristan Parvin

Tristan is a peer that I have been impressed with since I worked with him for the first time last year. He's a great guy and a decent actor and I'm a big fan of the films I've watched by him. His most recent film was really well done for a high school student and he has such a clear passion for filmmaking I don't think I'd even need to speak much about it. I'm really excited to see his next work and whatever he decides to work on after that.

Pre-Production Blog Post

To be frankly honest I haven't done much having been out before the Corona outbreak and being mistold that we didn't have any school work over the course of the virus outbreak, but I do have photos of what I do have done so far and I will continue working on the script and finishing pre-production so I can finish filming once school opens back up. I wanted to make it really easy to look up who it was, what side they're on, and any other information that would be necessary for me to recount these events with as much historically accurate as possible. You can't see it cause I didn't crop these images correctly but on the left side of the screen all the different categories are kept up so I can easily navigate through my admittedly clunky notes. Understanding Plato's Allegory of the Cave

I felt if I was going to create a film as a modern interpretation of the allegory, I should do my research and really break down the story so I don't lose the key components of it. So, I'm going to go over the events before the story, the story itself, and its affect on society to this day. Before The Story In the story Plato says that the person narrating is Socrates, his old teacher who was executed by the Athen government for "corrupting the minds of Athen youths." According to my english teacher he was apparently offered either death or exile and he chose death. Most people think of Socrates as a voluntary scapegoat since he chose this way and it points to him being something of a martyr. In reality Socrates was moreso a preacher of free and individual thinking, which the government did not appreciate and actually falls in line with the theme I want my films to have this year. End of Marking Period 2 Blog Post

Exploration of Ideas At the beginning of the year I knew I wanted to do my own take on Allegory of the Cave. It was one of the first things we read in my World Literature class and while we were reading I could kind've just see scenes coming together in my head and I knew it was a challenge I wanted to take on.  Planning While planning for this I watched a lot of videos and read a few articles discussing the philosophy of the Allegory and honestly gained a lot of critical information I needed for my interpretation of things. Honestly I think my ideas match the same ideals as Plato and Socrates, sort of critiquing the government and how things are handled. I'm not an extremely political person (in fact I'm a moderate) but there are still some really messed up ways the government handles things and I think showing an exaggerated form of it is perfect to exemplify the metaphor.
